German Trip To Boppard, July 2013

On July 15th 35 pupils from Years 7 to 10 set off for a wonderful 5 day stay in Boppard along the River Rhein, one of the most picturesque places Germany has to offer. The trip was action packed with visits to museums, castles, a theme park and not to mention the cruise down the River Rhein, the train ride up into the mountains and the visit to Koblenz.  The trip culminated in a fun evening bowling. Pupils were able to try out their German but even more importantly to experience a different culture and way of life and witness the language they learn in the classroom put into a real life context. All pupils were an absolute credit to themselves, their parents and the school as a whole.

Here is an extract from one pupil’s experience of the trip (Toni Pitman Year 10) : “I was one of 35 year 7-10 students who went on the MFL visit to a little town called Boppard in Germany in July 2013. We all stayed in a dainty hotel, the Hunsrucker Hof, and it suited us all very well. Over the five days in total we toured through Boppard, visited Siegfried's Mechanical Music Cabinet, spent a day at Phantasialand and visited a lovely little castle. Not to mention the time we were given to go shopping!

Our trip to Germany was an amazing experience and I can speak for all of us when I say that we wish we could go back! I would highly recommend this trip to anyone who has the opportunity and it was worth every penny!”
