Ofsted Parent Views

How do we get Parents Views at Moorside High School?

The views of our stakeholders are very important and there are various opportunities throughout the year for Pupils, Governors and staff to provide views. Ways to provide Parental Views include;

  • Using the school website link (Ofsted Parent Views), see below, or direct on www.Ofsted.gov.uk.
  • This site allows parents the opportunity to provide information about their views of the school.
  • Contacting Assistant Head Teacher Mrs Burke via email lburke@moorside.staffs.sch.uk or by telephone on 01782 551200.
  • Attending Parents Evenings where parents are invited to complete a questionnaire. There is one parents evening per year group each year. The questionnaire is on the back of the invitation to Parents Evening and can be completed on the night or prior. This is handed in on the evening or if parents are unable to attend can be brought into school by pupils. This questionnaire is provided by Ofsted for school use to gain a quick overview.
  • Attending Parents Evenings for years 8 and 9 there is an opportunity to complete an online survey (MIDYIS) in addition to the normal questionnaire. This survey allows parents to answer questions on the Leadership and Management of the school, Behaviour Management, Safety, Attainment and Progress and to give views on their Childs experiences at school in more detail.
  • Every two years a Parental Survey is sent out to the whole school for parental feedback. This is produced by an external company and is anonymous.
  • Parent Forum (3 times per year). This is advertised on the school website and is held at 6.30pm-7.30pm for parents to drop in. There is often an agenda to discuss, which is advertised prior to the meeting and there is always the chance to discuss any issues parents may have.
  • Special Educational Needs Coffee Mornings are held for each year groups, where parents of children with special needs can meet to discuss their Childs progress and talk to other parents should they wish to.
  • Special Educational Needs annual reviews.
  • Open door policy for SEN parents to discuss concerns.
  • Parents book left available for comments at every event held at school and left available in reception at all other times.
  • To meet with a Head of Year to give views about their child.
  • Discussing views with link Governors to feedback at the committee meetings. This information can be found on the school website.
  • Parental views are also obtained at Transition days with year 5/6, New Intake Evening, Prospective Parents Evening, Option Evenings and at Summer School.

Parent views are analysed and used to provide evidence to support and inform the school on how well we are meeting the diverse needs of all our pupils.

Ofsted  have a website available for parents to make comments (please see link below).
