Key Stage 3 : Scheme Of Work

The Schemes of Work should follow the Staffordshire Agreed Syllabus and / or the QCA schemes of work. Where the QCA schemes are follow, these follow and cover the same criteria and attainment as the Staffordshire Agreed Syllabus recommends.

All pupils undertake 1 hour of Religious Education per week. A unit is designed to last for one complete half term.  After this an assessment is conducted.

Teachers are given a breakdown of each lesson with suggested ideas for the lessons. Teachers are called upon to use their own professional judgement on the suitability of these tasks.

Year 7

  • This thing called Religion;
  • What does Justice mean to Christians?;
  • Sacred Buildings;
  • Festivals;
  • What are we doing to the Environment?;
  • Is It Right to Eat Animals?;
  • Islam.

Year 8

  • The Life of Jesus;
  • The Life of Martin Luther King;
  • How and Why Do People Worship Hinduism;
  • Symbolism;
  • What would a Church for all Christians be like?;
  • Sikh beliefs;
  • What is the best form of Guidance?

Year 9

  • Rites of Passage;
  • Life and Death Issues;
  • Buddhism;
  • Human Rights and Responsibilities;
  • Prejudice and Discrimination.
