TERM One

PLANTS AND NATURAL FORM :

A foundation in drawing in different materials also to include a baseline assessment.

Critical studies reference: Beatriz Milhazes. 

CHIAROSCURO :

A project about light and dark referencing the work of Rembrandt and various film makers who use this effect to explore suspense and horror in their work. Includes the year 7 exam.

TERM TWO TERM THREE

THE ENVIRONMENT

A project that examines our local environment and some of the Green /Eco friendly issues raised in the work of the artist Hundertwasser.

MODERN/ABSTRACT ART

A project that explores how music is used to inspire great works of art and links to Matisse’s cut out series.

Year 8

TERM ONE

TRIBAL / ETHIC DESIGN : 

Mehndi Hands Mini Project

A project that gives students the opportunity to produce work after looking at artwork from different cultures.

FIGURES :  

A project that focuses on developing skills and accuracy in the drawing of figures. Artists vary from the anatomical studies of Leonardo Da Vinci through to modern art themes as a basis for fashion clothing and illustration.

TERM TWO TERM THREE

THE POP ART PROJECT :

A unit he examines how art is used to explore various issues of modern society: stereotyping / Sexism etc.  (Build on Fashion reference from the spring term).

Concluding in a mixed media collage.

DAY OF THE DEAD :

A cultural project to include the Y9 exam.

VALENTINA DESIGNS :

A mini project to include an inspirational quote for the forthcoming year

Year 9

TERM ONE

A Mini Project examining illuminated manuscripts and other ways of using text and fonts in the development of artwork. This topic will also address literacy issues and key words.

THE IDENTITIY PROJECT

A cross-generational project that will bring together digital photography and drawing and painting culminating in a final mixed media piece.

Ceramic Sculptures linked to the fruit unit.

Year ten Examination.

Paper issued that links to the new project brief

An art project that explores colour, pattern and texture through a still life arrangement and investigations in to artists such as Sarah Grahame and Wayne Thiebauld.

GCSE Art and Design field trip to an Art Gallery or place of interest.
