MOORSIDE COMMEMORATES 100 YEARS SINCE WORLD WAR 1 :  11 NOVEMBER 2014

Students commemorated 100 years since the start of the First World War by taking part in a History day.

Students joined in a special assembly led by Reverend Sue Goodwin and we also observed a two minute silence. Poppies were made in Art & DT lessons and displayed in the foyer together with war memorabilia, including War medals.

Lessons were themed around the Great War, with Science lessons including medical advances that resulted from the conflict.  Maths students took part in code breaking sessions, Humanities classes looked at the causes and implications of the war and English students were given a short talk on North Staffordshire soldiers by The Sentinel's Richard Ault, before taking part in a creative writing project based around a fictional soldier.

A great day was had by all.
